Dear esteemed visitors,
I am delighted to welcome you to the website of the Anambra State Bureau of Statistics. As the Statistician General and Managing Director of the Bureau, it is my pleasure to share with you the important roles and objectives of our organization and why it is crucial to have a vibrant statistics agency in any state or country.
At the Anambra State Bureau of Statistics, our core mission is to provide accurate, reliable and timely statistical information on all aspects of the state’s economy, social welfare and other development indicators. We are committed to promoting evidence-based decision making and informed policy formulation by providing high-quality statistical data and analysis to the government, investors, business operators, researchers and the general public.
The importance of having a vibrant statistics agency cannot be overemphasized. Quality statistical data is the backbone of any successful economic planning, monitoring and evaluation. Without accurate data, it is impossible to measure the progress of any development project, set realistic targets or identify gaps in existing policies.
As such, Ministries, Agencies and Departments (MDAs) have a crucial role to play in ensuring that we have access to accurate and reliable data. The data they collect and analyze is used to inform policy decisions, program implementation and budget allocations. It is, therefore, essential that MDAs cooperate with the Anambra State Bureau of Statistics to ensure that the data they collect are accurate, up-to-date and relevant.

The Statistician General said this before the House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation at House of Assembly complex, Awka during the Assembly’s oversight meeting on the 2022/2023 Quarterly Performance Appraisal with the Anambra State Bureau of Statistics.
